5 activities for when it is raining in Cape Town

Even with winter in full swing, Cape Town remains one of the best destinations to visit in South Africa. Don’t let the rain and the cold keep you in doors. Here is a list of the best activities to do in Cape Town when it is raining. That is if you don’t mind being adventurous and getting a bit wet.

1) Quad Biking

Quad Biking is the perfect activity for those rainy days. Expect to get wet and dirty whilst riding on mountain trails flanked by fynbos with spectacular views. Quad Biking trails are available in Hermanus and Grabouw and all guests are provided with a full length rain coat.

2) Ziplining

Zip lining is an invigorating way to explore the natural beauty of Cape Town, and the Western Cape is home to a number of different Zip lining sites. 4) Diving at the Two Oceans Aquarium

Looking for an adventure but don’t want to be outside with the rain? Look no further than the Two Oceans Aquarium. The aquarium offers scuba diving for thrill seekers and you can choose to either experience the magical forests of the Ocean Basket Kelp Forest exhibition or to dive with turtles, rays and guitar sharks, to name a few, in the newly opened I&J Ocean Exhibit.


5) Wine or Craft Beer Tasting

Of course let’s not forget about all the fantastic wine estates all within a quick drive of Cape Town. The Constantia Valley is the oldest wine producing region in South Africa and a mere 15 minutes away from Cape Town. A rainy day is the perfect day to visit one of the wine regions and while you are at it, visit one of the many craft breweries for a tour and a tasting of the craft beer revolution.
